Cooling (23/10/2025)
Fan and temperature control interface
Supports automatic regulation, overheating protection, and manual fan control.
Modes of Operation
GMiner ASIC provides three cooling modes:
-
Automatic Mode — recommended for most environments.
The system dynamically adjusts fan speed based on chip temperature and the defined target temperature. -
Manual Mode — allows users to set fixed fan speeds from 10% to 100%.
-
Immersion Mode — for ASICs installed in immersion cooling systems (liquid cooling).
Fans can be disabled entirely to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.
Temperature Thresholds
-
Maximum Temperature: When this threshold is reached (e.g., 90 °C), the system will automatically reboot to prevent overheating.
-
Warning Temperature: At approximately 85 °C, the firmware reduces the hashrate profile (e.g., from 110 TH/s to 109 TH/s) to stabilize temperature.
-
Minimum Temperature: If temperature falls below this value, the firmware reduces fan speed or temporarily suspends mining until safe conditions are restored.
The built-in WatchDog continuously monitors temperature changes and dynamically adjusts performance.
Fan Settings
-
Minimum Fan Count: allows operation with 1–4 fans if one or more fail.
-
Minimum Fan Speed: startup fan RPM percentage when the system boots.
-
Target Temperature: the temperature the system aims to maintain.
Example: if set to 65 °C, fan speed gradually increases until it stabilizes at 100% around this temperature.
If a fan malfunction is detected, it’s marked as Error, and the system can disable faulty fans programmatically.
Temperature Sensors
If one or more temperature sensors fail, mining can continue by specifying the minimum number of active sensors in settings.
The firmware ignores faulty sensors and maintains safe operation.
Manual Mode
In Manual Mode, users can fix fan speed at a constant percentage (10–100%).
Useful for farms with external cooling or special environmental conditions.
Safety Logic
-
Automatic profile downshift at –5 °C below critical temperature.
-
Device reboot at critical temperature (90 °C).
-
After reboot, the system activates cooling mode and resumes mining once stable.
• • Full auto-recovery after overheating is built in.
✅ Safety and Reliability
-
Installation is non-destructive — bootloader stays untouched.
-
You can rollback to stock anytime.
-
Built-in temperature and fan protection with auto-recovery.
-
Full compatibility with Antminer and Whatsminer models.
